I'm doing my normal thing of having a Disney movie on while I do homework (I like to paint with a movie on in the background) and I'm watching Sleeping Beauty for the first time since I was a kid. I haven't watched it in years since it was my little brother's favorite movie for a time and he watched it over, and over, and over, and over... Plus as an adult, I mean, well, who really wants to watch a movie where the heroine sleeps? Come on.

However! Watching it now, I'm amazed at how very well done it is. The animation is superb. The character designs are awesome (and so very sixties mod! Just look at those colors!) and I'm really digging on it.

Plus. Bill Peet. I love Bill Peet.

Sleeping Beauty is my FAVORITE Disney movie ever. I was terrified of it when I was young but I mean between the design and the classical music, it is completely unlike any other done by the company.

The Animation Museum in San Francisco had an exhibit when I was there of the movie's art and design. It's beautiful.

I loooove that movie. I love all the filming techniques they used, too. I miss oldskool animation like whoa. Siiigh. STUPID DIGITAL TAKING AWAY FUN THINGS.
